Advocacy Efforts Against KOSA

A coalition of parents and pro-family organizations has come together to address the dangers posed by the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). We have sent a letter to the leadership in Congress expressing our deep concerns about this bill and urging them to oppose it.

In our letter, we highlight the following points:

1. Empowering Federal Bureaucrats, while Diminishing the Role of Parents: This bill would strip parents of their responsibilities, transferring that authority to Washington bureaucrats. It would also allow children to become data subjects in government-funded studies without parental consent.
2. Privacy Concerns: Under the guise of protecting children, this bill would expose them to greater dangers online and compromise their privacy. Social media sites would be forced to collect sensitive information to verify ages, putting personal data at risk. The federal government would gain sweeping powers to study how individuals, including children, use social media, requiring companies to turn over user data without regard for privacy.

For these reasons and more, we believe KOSA would increase the harms to children and make it harder for parents to protect them. We urge families across America to join us in opposing and defeating the Kids Online Safety Act.
